Multiple-Tooth Implants & Implant Bridges in Los Angeles

Clinically reviewed by Dr. Michael Issakharian, DDS

An implant-supported bridge can replace several neighboring missing teeth using implants for support. You may not need a separate implant for every missing tooth. The number and position are determined by your bone, bite, and restoration design.

Individual crowns or an implant bridge?

Separate implant crowns and an implant-supported bridge solve different patterns of tooth loss. A bridge connects replacement teeth across a gap, while individual crowns restore teeth separately. Neither design is automatically the better choice. Ask your dentist to show which spaces are being replaced and where each implant would sit.

How is this different from a traditional bridge?

A traditional tooth-supported bridge uses adjacent natural teeth as anchors. An implant bridge is supported by implants instead. This can be valuable when neighboring teeth are healthy or cannot provide appropriate support. The health of remaining teeth should be part of the discussion, rather than assuming they all need to be removed.

Plan for cleaning and future maintenance

Before approving the design, ask how you will clean beneath the bridge and around each implant. Have the team demonstrate the tools you will use at home. Also discuss how a damaged tooth, loosened component, or other repair would be managed and what ongoing visits will involve.

Questions to bring to Cal Dental Group

Which teeth can be kept? Why is this number of implants recommended? Will the bridge be fixed or removable, and what will I wear while healing? Can treatment be staged? Request a written plan that separates surgery, temporary teeth, the final bridge, and follow-up. If an entire upper or lower arch needs replacement, review our full-arch guide.

Questions patients ask

Do three missing teeth require three implants?

Not necessarily. An implant-supported bridge can replace multiple teeth with fewer implants, when the clinical design permits.

Will I remove an implant bridge at night?

A fixed implant bridge stays in place for the patient. A removable implant denture is a different design; confirm which option is proposed.

Can I replace teeth on both sides of my mouth?

Yes, multiple areas can be evaluated together. The location of each gap and the remaining teeth determine whether separate crowns, bridges, or another design makes sense.
